Editorial: Improving our site

When beginning with this task, in 2001, we did not imagine the growth and acceptance that our site would have. What initially it was thought as an instrument of institutional diffusion were extending its reaches. Thus we incorporated RETEL, whose primary target was to have a dynamic and versatile tool to facilitate that the toxicologist could publish their contributions. For that reason we were making changes and adjustments to improve it, for example at the outset one hoped to that each edition was completed since becomes in printed publications. But from the eleventh edition, we were raising each article, as they were accepted, and the magazine was made agile and the first articles are not delayed in their publication to the hope that completes the edition. Also the incorporation of our bulletins was a way of periodic update. But it was necessary to wait a month to raise some news did in some cases that these aged. This vertiginous rate that has reached the present world communications determined that we decided to renew our site completely to make agile its update. In this effort we underwent certain delay with bulletins but we think that it was worth the trouble. Along with the updated site we offer our last bulletin to you. See you next number.

Carlos Abud, Rosario, Argentina.
I have discovered a very showy spider in my terrace and I wanted to know if she is poisonous or if you know where or who can inform me about it. I send you a photo  (I have some more but they are very heavy). Thank you very much
Answer: we do not know to that species belongs but does not correspond to any of the poisonous ones of Argentina. If somebody can contribute more to the restlessness of Carlos, we will thank for it.
Suggestion: Ana Digón think that is an argiopidae spider. The spiders of the family argiopidae (several sorts and species, very common in Argentina) are weavers(nonhunting), nonaggressive and devoid of poison of toxicologic importance for the man. Some sorts are very showy, with his coleres metalized, but but the characteristic thing is the structure and design of the fabric, simultaneously aesthetic and resistant. Argiopidaes is friendly spiders that collaborate in the depredation of insects[ See ].

¿What can we do with the used batteries? ->

Artículos y Textos Científicos Juliana Stiefel, Biochemistry of San Martin de las Escobas(Santa Fe), writes to us:
In my locality and by initiative of the primary school they are collecting used batteries, but reason why I know the subject, is not easy the decontamination of  them, if there have been no changes, I have understood that the only thing that it is possible to be done is to confine them in closed cement containers. ¿Do you knowk about some change on the matter? My consultation is because it seems to me that that  is it somewhat risky that small children of the primary  school are manipulating this type of toxics without a complete knowledge of the subject. ¿Can you send information on the matter  to me or  some Internet address. Thank you very much
Answer:There have been changes in this subject. See the links in our Spanish answer.

¿ What is Argentina Town to town? Argentina Town to Town is basically an unpublished work, as another one were never made. Throughout his 20 volumes and more than 3,000 pages it proposes a route by all the places where we lived the Argentineans. From the great cities, like Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario, to the smallest towns scattered by the plain, lost in the Puna of Salta or sweepings by the wind in the steppe of Santa Cruz. Here we showed to the Weblog from Clarin newspaper (Only available in Spanish).

27 July 2007 -- WHO today releases the first-ever report highlighting children's special susceptibility to harmful chemicals. It underscores the fact that in children, the stage in their development when exposure occurs may be just as important as the magnitude of the exposure. It is the most comprehensive work undertaken to date on the scientific principles for assessing health risks for children.
